Who We Are

Nanyuki Water and Sanitation Company (NAWASCO) is the licensed water service provider for Nanyuki town, its environs, and parts of Nyeri and Meru Counties, covering 286 km². Established in 2005 under the Companies Act and operating under the Water Act 2016 as an agent of the Laikipia County Government, NAWASCO delivers safe, clean, and reliable water and sanitation services.

Our mandate upholds the Constitution of Kenya (Article 43) on the right to clean and safe water and reasonable sanitation, aligns with the Laikipia County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023–2027, and advances the Governor’s Manifesto 2022–2027 through expanded access, infrastructure upgrades, and equitable service delivery.

Regionally and globally, we contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—principally SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), with links to SDGs 3(Good Health and Well-being), 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and 13 (Climate Action)—and support the African Union Agenda 2063 that envisions "The Africa we want" through sustainable development, economic growth, and social transfromation and the East African Community (EAC) Vision 2050.
